Accra Technical University (ATU) has taken a significant step toward enhancing digital education and improving graduate employability through a strategic partnership with Silvadew Tech, a technology training and digital skills development company.
The partnership, formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the University, is aimed at equipping students with practical, industry-relevant skills, globally recognised professional certifications, and access to career opportunities in Ghana and beyond.
Through this collaboration, Silvadew Tech will introduce its E-University platform and a series of professional short courses designed to prepare students for the evolving demands of the global job market. The programmes, which will run between two and eight weeks, will focus on practical learning and provide participants with certifications that validate their skills and enhance their competitiveness in the workplace.
Bridging the Gap Between Education and Industry
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Silvadew Tech, Mr. Kwame Ampong, highlighted the importance of aligning education with the needs of employers.
He explained that Silvadew Tech works closely with organisations, particularly in the United States, to identify emerging workforce needs and develop training programmes that address current industry demands.
“Our goal is to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by providing students with practical skills that employers are actively seeking,” Mr. Ampong said.
He added that the partnership will create pathways for students to access opportunities in both remote and traditional employment environments by equipping them with globally relevant technology and professional skills.
Under the partnership, ATU will serve as a training centre for the delivery of these professional programmes, creating an environment where students can gain additional skills alongside their academic studies.

The Vice-Chancellor of Accra Technical University, Professor Amevi Acakpovi, welcomed the partnership and emphasised the importance of preparing graduates for opportunities available not only in Ghana but across Africa.
He highlighted the need for stronger collaboration between universities and industry partners to ensure students are trained with skills that match real-world job requirements.
Professor Acakpovi also proposed the development of a database of available jobs and emerging skills requirements across Ghana and Africa. This initiative would help institutions better understand market demands and design training programmes that directly respond to employer needs.
